Great Teacher Onizuka a.k.a. GTO is a Japanese manga (Japanese for graphic novels) title created by Touru Fujisawa, and was serialized in Kodansha Publishing's Shukan Shonen Magazine as their anchor title until the series ends in January 2002. This title exists in 3 formats; manga, anime (Japanese for cartoons) and live-action.
