Nielsen, Carl

Carl Nielsen (1865-1931) both bridged the Romantic and Modern periods and also introduced the latter to Danish music. Versatile, he wrote for solo instruments, orchestras, and voice. He is accounted (with Buxtehude) as one of Denmark's two greatest composers.
