POWER is an acronym for: Performance Optimization With Enhanced RISC; a RISC (Reduced Instruction Set Computer) architecture central processor, designed, produced, and sold by International Business Machines: IBM. It is the basis for, and remains similar to, two better known processors and brands:2) The Cell processor, a 9 core multiprocessor, on one chip.
