Strategic Health Authorities

The 28 Strategic Health Authorities are responsible for developing strategies for the local health services and ensuring high-quality performance. They manage the NHS locally and are a key link between the Department of Health and the NHS.

• - Providing healthcare strategy development for the areas of Leeds, Bradford, Airedale, Wakefield, Calderdale and Kirklees.
  
• - Press releases, publications and links to the local NHS in Croydon, Kingston, Merton, Richmond, Sutton and Wandsworth.
  
• - Serving the NHS across the boroughs of Barnet, Enfield, Haringey, Camden and Islington with a population of 1.2 million people.
  
• - Annual report, delivery plans, projects and consultation papers.
  
• - Provides a range of information on services and facilities, hospitals, news, and jobs.
  
• - Contains regional health information. Includes information about hospitals, local services, primary care trusts, health information, social services and contact details.
  
• - Information about health care, documents available for download plus links to local service providers and Primary Care Groups.
  
• - Manages health care provision in the county. Includes details of board members, minutes and publications.
  
• - Information about the authority and what it does, documents, press releases, partner organisations and contacts.
  
• - The headquarters for the NHS across eight boroughs in the east of London from the Corporation of London right through to Barking and Dagenham.
  
• - Headquarters for the NHS from Cambridge to Norwich and from Peterborough to Ipswitch.
  
• - Local NHS guide, role and functions of the Authority, people and contacts, modernisation and public consultation.
  
• - Overseeing NHS organisations in Blackburn, Burnley, Chorley, Preston, Morecambe Bay, West Lancashire, the Fylde coast and North Cumbria
  
• - Planning health services for a population of 1.4 million covering the area from the Scottish border in the north, down to Houghton le Spring in the south and across to the Cumbria border in the west.

• - Headquartered in Oxford and responsible for overseeing the work of NHS trusts within the three counties of Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire.
  
• - Developing strategies for local health services and ensuring high-quality performance across Coventry, Herefordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire.
  
• - Newsletters, meetings, directorate and publications.
  
• - Headquarters for the 15 NHS organisations across the London boroughs of Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark.
  
• - Serving the three East Midland counties of Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire with a combined population of 2.7 million people.
  
• - Responsible for the co-ordination, development and performance management of NHS organisations in Surrey and Sussex.
