William Middendorm II) directed the reclassification of USS Constitution from "IX 21" to "None" effective 1 September 1975. She is listed on the Naval Vessel Register as a commissioned ship and by name only. She is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was designated a National Historic Landmakr on 19 December 1960.
