Kettle River, Minnesota, population 190, is on State Highway 73 in Carlton County. The city of Kettle River is 25 miles southwest of Cloquet, and 107 miles north of St. Paul. In 1989, Kettle River was the scene of alleged Marian apparitions; Roger L. Schwietz, Bishop of Duluth, has ruled against any special prayers or devotional practices at the site.
