Named for Kentucky Governor John C. W. Beckham at the suggestion of a delegate to the Oklahoma Constitutional Convention, Beckham County was formed at statehood from portions of Greer and Roger Mills counties and is the site of the Oklahoma Traveler Information Center for persons entering Oklahoma on Interstate 40 from Texas. Land Area: 904 square miles of level plains with three major stream systems
