Known as the "Fightin Ninth," this pastoral countryside full of beautiful scenery is home to some of the country's most vital resources, including coal. The region begins in Roanoke, its largest city, and stretches over 145 miles down to Bristol and another 100 miles to the west at the Cumberland Gap.
