Wolof Kordofanian Niger Natural Languages Linguistics


Wolof is spoken in Gambia, Mauritania, and Senegal. The classification is Niger-Congo family, Western Sudanic subgroup, West Atlantic branch. A century of Christian mission effort has had little impact, and there are only a few Wolof believers. Despite the official language being French, about 80 percent of the Senegalese population speaks Wolof.
