History Methodist Denominations ChristianityHistoryMethodism began as a movement within the Church of England which grew up under the leadership of John and Charles Wesley. Beginning with the Methodist Episcopal Church of the United States, the movement gradually took independance from the Anglican Communion. Methodism can now be found throughout the world in various forms.
