Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA on January 28th 1941, his first television role was on the religious programme "A Lamp Unto My Feet" on which his father worked as a production supervisor. He has subsequently starred in such shows as "The Secret Storm", "Dark Shadows" and the crime drama "The Edge of Night", for which he received two Emmy Award nominations. His last television role was on the long running US soap opera "Santa Barbara". Joel Crothers died from cancer at the age of 44, on November 6th 1985.
