Fredericton, capital city of New Brunswick (since 1785) is situated beside the St. John River, in York County. The city has placed a high priority on providing green spaces. The 457 hectares (1129 acres) of parkland include the natural forest of Odell Park, pristine Killarney Lake and the lush gardens of Wilmot Park.
