Burwell Johnson and Oscar Martin chose the name of the town of "Chester" for the Post Office established at Bert Johnson's in 1894, a stage stop and dairy ranch. Burwell (Bert) had been born in Chester, Missouri and Oscar Martin in Chester, Vermont.
