Fort Griswold Battlefield State Park Parks Travel and Tourism Groton


Historic site where, in 1781, British forces, commanded by Benedict Arnold, captured the Fort and massacred the colonial militia. Today, the 860-acre park houses a Revolutionary War museum and the granite monument which was the inspiration for the Washington Monument.
