South End Neighborhoods Hartford Localities
The South End neighborhood grew rapidly after World War I when land was subdivided and developed. It is a stable community, with residential areas and commercial corridors. Franklin Avenue has a distinctive Italian atmosphere, with many restaurants, bakeries, retail shops, and clubs. Also located in the neighborhood is Goodwin Park, which includes a 27 hole golf course.
