Covering 7,201 acres Bangor, located north of Silverdale, Washington on the Kitsap Peninsula is a balance of forest land, operational and administrative facilities and service and housing areas bordered by the beautiful Olympic Mountains and waters of the naturally formed Hood Canal to the west, waterways of Puget Sound and the Emerald City of Seattle to the east. The purpose of SUBASE Bangor is to serve the Navy as a home port for the TRIDENT Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile System; to provide administrative and personnel support for operations of the submarine force; and to provide logistical support for other Navy activities. Industrial activities include incremental submarine overhauls, modernization, and corrective maintenance; assembly and processing missiles and components; and training military and civilian personnel on the latest military technologies.
