Bergen County is located in the northeast section of New Jersey. It is bounded on the north by Rockland County, New York, on the west by Passiac and Essex Counties, on the south by Essex and Hudson Counties and on the east by the Hudson River.The area of Bergen County is 234.0 square miles, and at the 2000 census projection the population was 857,052.Bergen County is considered to belong to the New York City Metro area.
