The Richmond Renegades entered the East Coast Hockey League in 1990 as an expansion franchise. The team's home ice is Richmond Coliseum ("The Freezer") in Richmond, Virginia. The Renegades are affiliated with the Washington Capitals (NHL) and Portland Pirates (AHL).
