Ringette Ice Hockey

Ringette was developed an a winter sport for women as an alternative ice sport. It is played on any standard ice hockey rink, with the addition of free pass circles and without the use of the red line. There are five skaters and a goalie for each team. The object is to score goals on the net of your opponent. A straight stick, with a tapered end and a metal tip, similar to a hockey stick with no blade, is used to pass an 8" hollow blue rubber ring between team mates, and over the blue lines. There are 2 fifteen to twenty minute periods, depending on the age level.
