E-Mail Signature Files

Just as you would not think of leaving your telephone or fax number off a sales brochure, neither should your web site address be missing. By placing your web address (and e-mail address) on all your print advertising (brochures, newspaper, magazines), letterhead, business cards, even mentioning it on radio and TV spots, you are presenting yourself as a leading-edge type of company. In addition, you are generating more interest in your web site and thereby more traffic (which can lead to more sales!).

A way to help generate interest in your web site is to use a "signature file". This is a few lines of text at the end of every e-mail message that gives your name and/or company name, slogan, phone numbers, web address, etc. As an example:

Most Internet e-mail programs allow you to create a signature file that will be automatically appended to every outgoing e-mail message. Some commercial services such as America Online do not have this feature yet. However, you can create a short text file and cut-and-paste this text at the end of all your outgoing e-mail messages to get the same result. Save this file on your computer for future use.
