Kogawa, Joy

Canadian poet, novelist, and children's writer. Her works include Obasan, Itsuka, and Naomi's Road. A victim of the Canadian government's decision to inter Japanese-Canadians during World War II, Kogawa was instrumental in influencing the government to make a settlement in 1988 for the loss of liberty and property.
