Chordettes, The C Bands and Artists

The Chordettes, a female vocal quartet, was formed in 1946 by four college friends. They sang a cappella in the barbershop style for several years before recording with musical backing. They hit the charts with "Mr. Sandman" in 1954 and had several more hits, including "Lollipop," Zorro," and "Never on Sunday," before disbanding in 1961.
