Smith, Elliott Sm S Bands and Artists

Born Steven Paul Smith in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1969, the "folk-punk" singer-songwriter was a member of the band Heatmiser. The use of his songs in the movie "Good Will Hunting" brought him mainstream recognition, as well as a Best Original Song Academy Award nomination for "Miss Misery." Smith's death on Oct. 21, 2003, was initially reported as an apparent suicide, but was ruled inconclusive and is still under investigation.
