Bloch, Ernest B Composers Composition

Bloch, Ernest
Born in Switzerland, Ernest Bloch (1880-1959) reached his zenith in America, not only as composer but also as teacher. He wrote music that was often deeply spiritual in nature, drawing heavily on Jewish sources. Many of his compositions are highly emotional, following neo-classical and neo-romantic leanings, as was common in the early 20th century.
