Bull, John B Composers Composition

Bull, John
English Renaissance composer, musician, and instrument builder John Bull (c. 1562-1628) wrote for, played on and built organs and other keyboards, especially the virginal. (The virginal is a type of harpsichord--it plucks its strings--but these strings run side to side instead of from front to back.) Among his works are The King's Hunt and Walsingham, a piece with theme and thirty variations. Along with Byrd and Gibbons, some of his works were published in the 1611 collection Parthenia.
