Hovhaness, Alan
Alan Vaness Chakmakjian, born in Somerville, Massachusetts in 1911 took the name Hovhaness to honor a grandfather. He was internationally known as one of the 20th Century's most prolific composers. He died in Seattle Washington on June 21, 2000.
