Josquin Desprez J Composers Composition
Flemish Renaissance composer Josquin Desprez was born in Hainut (present-day Belgium) around 1440 and died in 1521. Surviving works include 19 masses, about 100 motets, some 70 French chansons, and a few instrumental pieces and Italian frottole. Martin Luther said of him, "Josquin is master of the notes, which must express what he desires; other choral composers must do what the notes dictate."
