Italian Baroque erez, Davide (or David) Perez was born in Naples in 1711 and died in 1778 in Lisbon. He was recognized in his time as one of the greatest Italian composers. Eighteenth Century critics regarded him highly. He was essentially a transtional figure in opera. His church music gave him a lasting claim to fame.
