Cajun and Zydeco
Cajun and Creole music developed roughly in parallel in Southwest Louisiana. In the late 1940's, the music of the Creole's, influenced by jazz and rhythm and blues, added the vest frottoir (rubboard) to emphasize the strong rhythms -- and Zydeco was born.
