Bannen, Ian

(1928-1999). Scottish actor Ian Bannen appeared in many movies and theater productions. He received an Oscar nomination for his supporting role in 'Flight of the Phoenix' in 1965 and also appeared as the leper in Braveheart. In Waking Ned Devine, Bannen played the lead role of Jackie O'Shea. Ian Bannen was killed in a car accident near Loch Ness on November 3, 1999.
