Penn, Irving Masters Photographers

Born June 16 1917 in Plainfield, New Jersey, Irving Penn made a name for himself as a fashion photographer, first at Harper's Bazaar and then at Vogue magazine.His work transcends the commercial aspects of photography, however. Always interested in the photographic process, he became technically proficient in many techniques and styles. He is best known for his book Worlds in a Small Room, published in 1974.
