In the lawless region around Dodge City, Kansas, US Marshal Matt Dillon and his deputies fight to maintain peace and order. Gunsmoke originally aired over the CBS network from September 1955 until September 1961 as a 30 minute program, and then from September 1961 until September 1975 in a 60 minute format.
