Gatehouse of Fleet is a small market town of Kirkcubrightshire, represented by the political ward of Stewartry West, of which Gateway of Fleet forms one Community Council.The town is by-passed by the A75 euroroute, taking traffic from Kirkcubright, Dumfriesshire, the Borders and Northern England to Stranraer and the ferry to Northern Ireland.
