Sharjah is the third largest of the seven states, which form the United Arab Emirates. The city of Sharjah is the capital of the Emirate. The Emirate western seaboard is the Arabian Gulf coast, and in the east the Gulf of Oman and Indian Ocean. The total area of Sharjah is approximately 2590 square kilometers. Petroleum and gas form the primary economic resource of the Emirate.
