Orange Counties California United StatesOrangeOrange County is located in southern California near the Pacific Ocean between Los Angeles and San Diego Counties, served by several major freeways and John Wayne Airport (SNA). This category contains sites for all things relevant to OC and its constituent municipalities. The area was settled successively by the Gabrieleño and Juaneño Indians, and colonized by Spain in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. American settlement came in the later 19th century, with Anaheim becoming the first successful development. Orange County was split off from Los Angeles County in 1889. Rapid growth began in the 20th century, particularly in the postwar period. Today, Orange County is one of the largest and most affluent counties in the United States.
