Lake County is located in the far northwestern corner of Indiana. It is bordered on the north by Lake Michigan, on the east by Porter County, on the south by Newton County and on the west by Cook County, Illinois. Because of its geographic proximity and economic ties to Chicago, this county is often considered part of the Chicago region.
