Regions

Regions are areas of the state that span or encompass multiple counties. North Carolina has traditionally been divided into 3 regions: Mountains, which covers the 13 counties in the western part of the state; Piedmont, which is the central portion, and Coastal, which covers the sand hills and beach areas.
