Lycopodiophyta Plantae Flora and FaunaThe lycophytes are the oldest extant lineage of vascular plants and contains the club mosses and quillworts. As with the ferns, the gametophytic stage of growth is small and inconspicuous, with the sporophyte being the dominant stage of growth.
