Mountaintop Removal Mining Environment

Mountaintop Removal
Mountaintop removal is a strip-mining practice in which the top of a mountain is literally removed by blasting and draglines, and the material is placed in a nearby valley, in order to get access to the coal or other resources under the mountain. This practice is increasingly common in the eastern United States coalfields.
