Fonts and Software

Fonts are sets of typographic characters, typically used to write documents on word processors. Well known examples are the Arial or Times New Roman fonts bundled with the Windows operating systems.

• - Development site for the Galilee Greek font project which is designing a Unicode Greek font optimized for use on screen.
  
• - A tool for searching and browsing the databases of ancient texts published by the Thesaurus Linguae Graecae.
  
• - Extensive resources for writing Greek using WinGreek compatible fonts. Freeware macros for MS Word and Corel WordPerfect, and links to shareware fonts.
  
• - Wordbase is a tutorial and Greek dictionary program to help you learn the language of the New Testament. Practice grammar and vocabulary or play "hangman."
  
• - Software for Classical and Koine Greek studies. Includes the $20 shareware font and utility pack "SGREEK", which can be used on the Perseus Project site. Font allows typing using Beta code.
  
• - FTP link to Greek type A font for X systems (such as Linux). It may be easier to install a TTF program and use Windows fonts.

• - Commercial utility for writing Unicode Greek in Word 97/2000. Includes several very nice Unicode fonts.
  
• - FTP link to a Sans-Serif Greek font for Macintosh (type using Beta code).
  
• - Download Porson, a free unicode Greek font; requires a utility such as Antioch or Ukeys.
