Shape Notes

Shape Notes were an early nineteenth-century attempt to make music easier to read; and, by association, the style of music produced in that format during that period. Note that modern hymns, and the more general sites under the parent category, may contain a few songs in this style. Also, lyrics by early writers such as Watts and Wesley were often used--many such lyrics are found under the parent category.
