Cosell, Howard Sportscasters News and MediaCosell, HowardBorn Howard William Cohen, Howard Cosell (1919/20-1995) redefined sports broadcasting in the second half of the 20th Century. Beginning with a New York Little League program, he became simultaneously the most hated and most admired sports broadcaster in America. He was a defender and admirer of Muhammed Ali and helped change American viewing habits during his time on ABC TV's Monday Night Football. In his later years, Cosell appeared to "bite the hands that fed him," speaking poorly of NFL football and professional boxing.
