Northland College Wisconsin United States North America

Northland is an environmental liberal arts college located on the south shore of Lake Superior in Ashland, Wisconsin. What is an environmental liberal arts college? Northlanders major in biology and water science, meteorology and English, environmental studies and sociology, outdoor education and mathematics. They dream of corporate boardrooms, graduate school, life in the wilds of Alaska, or a career as a politician. Our investment in both discovery and tolerance invites the intellectually energetic and the individualistic to our four-year coeducational institution. Northland doesn't require a specific level of environmental participation (except recycling), but it does provide opportunities in both practical and aesthetic ways. Practically, students can choose to get involved in classes, organizations, or projects which focus on the environment. Aesthetically, the breathtaking beauty of Lake Superior and her shoreline of beaches and cliffs, the clean air and clear skies, and the forests and their inhabitants are available to everyone. If you're lucky, you can also tip your head back and watch the Northern Lights dancing in the night sky.
