Sitcom charting the fortunes of a motley group of bankers, butchers and black marketeers, who have been pressed into service in a petrifyingly inadequate WWII local defense group known as the Home Guard. Starring Arthur Lowe, John Le Mesurier, Clive Dunn, John Laurie, Ian Lavender, Arnold Ridley, James Beck and Bill Pertwee. Written by David Croft and Jimmy Perry. First broadcast on BBC1 in July 1968.
