Autocephalous Churches

"Autocephalous" means "self-headed," thus autocephalous churches are self-governing church bodies, independent of Rome. Autocephalous churches usually are larger than a single local congregation or religious order. An autocephalous church has a corporate name, its own hierarchy, and its own church law.
